SPARK (Java Edition) is a standalone, browser-based sound design tool created by Andrew Fly for Cinematic Alpha. It is designed specifically for composers who want to create their own sample libraries quickly and intuitively.
Unlike plugins or DAWs, SPARK runs directly in your browser (Chrome recommended), making it fully cross-platform and accessible without installation. Its focus is sound design and export, not live performance. MIDI input is provided only as a reference, not as a performance feature. For example, the envelope controls are indicative, giving you an idea of how the sound might behave in post-editing, but during export the attack is always rendered at zero for consistency.
SPARK offers a complete environment with:
- XY Pad morphing for intuitive sound shaping
- ADSR envelopes, filters, and LFOs for exploratory control
- Stereo and glitch effects with velocity linked to glitch rate
- Multi-oscillator architecture for layered textures
- Export panel to render WAV files with tempo sync, note ranges, and professional formatting

XY Pad — Morph & Filter Section
The XY Pad is the central creative section of SPARK. With a simple movement, you can morph between oscillator layers, control filter cutoff and resonance, and shape evolving textures in real time. Motion can be drawn freely or synced to tempo, with adjustable speed and intensity. This makes the XY Pad a powerful tool for transforming static sounds into dynamic and expressive material for your libraries.
Easy export
SPARK includes a powerful Export Panel that allows you to transform your sound design sessions into ready-to-use audio files for your libraries.
- Export Notes → ZIP: generate multiple WAV files directly from your presets.
- Loop Length & Divisions: choose cycles and rhythmic grids for perfectly synced loops.
- Note Range: export from a single note or across a defined MIDI range.
- Sample Rate & Bit Depth: select 44.1/48 kHz and 16/24-bit formats.
- Glitch Velocity: include glitch variations with velocity applied only to glitch rate.
- Naming & Consistency: every file is auto-named with BPM and grid info for easy library organization.
